The gift of eternal life is simply what that: it is a GIFT! Jesus’s encounter with a woman at a well in Samaria is a pivotal conversation to learn from because it shows the readiness, the availability, and the simplicity of the proclamation of the Gospel. However, for Jesus, we might think this would be a natural course of action (and it was), so what about us?
Are we just as prepared to share what we know whenever someone might ask us for a drink of what we have received? The modern day disciple is called to obey in the same manner: to speak the truth, to show concern in love, and share what God has given us. The decision (and the responsibility to receive) is then on the hearer — but truly, how can someone hear if no one will tell them the truth? This is where we come in and we must SHARE!
