Are we listening?

​When Jesus responds to people, it is often easy to see how His answers could be misconstrued, misunderstood, or even misinterpreted. After all, if He is speaking to us to correct our behavior, no one readily signs up for that! Further, sometimes we can fall into the trap of seeking God’s response but we have already decided what He should say; and this makes it extremely difficult to hear from Him clearly.

As we continue exploring Jesus’s responses (to people asking very valid questions) in John, it is easy to see ourselves in the role of the questioner — but are we willing to put ourselves in a place to hear from Him? The Church must continue to seek Him for all things, and as He speaks, we must be willing to put down our own preferences and truly LISTEN to His words!
