The truth of who Jesus is (the Son of God, the promised Messiah, etc.) becomes abundantly clear in the Gospel of John even during its opening sentences! However, as we will see, humanity resisted Him as being from God, and thus turned their backs on Him and refused to believe in Him.
The unique comparison of that time and today is strikingly eerie in that these “same people” continue to ignore Him and refuse to believe – but the message of salvation He brings remains exactly the same. As the modern day Church continues to sit with and learn to share this truth today, will we be found as faithful as a man like John to tell this world what we know as true?
