The words of John the Baptist really could be a battle cry for all of us today!
We are all to be voices in the wilderness (in the world), telling others about the goodness and grace of God (through Jesus) if they will repent of sin. The fact is that in our everyday experiences we have plenty of opportunity to share the Word of God with those in our community if we would just listen for the chance to do so.
Consider: we’ll talk about football, hobbies, new albums, and even about the weather with no pause to our words – but when it comes to sharing God we often become reserved and quiet. Why? John’s writing format in chapter 1 is one of boldness and proud declaration of what Jesus has done – would we be willing to do the same?
