John’s confession that Jesus is the Lamb of God was one of the most dramatic utterances in scripture that truly shook people’s perception of their knowledge of God. Why? Because it made them consider WHO they were following, in light of the truth of scripture, and that they (or WE) are not the center and purpose of life!
Once we are willing to understand and grasp that truth, we can then see the grace, mercy, and love of God offered to us because we understand what He did to bring it to us – in spite of our sinful nature. The beginning of Christ’s ministry is one of the most encouraging stories we can repeat because in it, we find real hope to overcome the struggles that we currently face. Will we, or would we, be bold enough to share this truth with those we meet day to day?
