I don’t know what’s going to happen in the face of the terrorism and continued violence we are seeing daily …
But I do know two things for absolute certain:
1) Jesus is Lord, and,
2) If our faith and focus is not in Him we have no real hope.
Prayerfully, we will consider this as a nation, and look to the provider of everything we need, Jesus Christ.

I don’t disagree with your two certainties, but it’s also fascinating to consider that we live in the safest, least violent period in all recorded history. There are more and less dangerous places, and good and bad people, but overall globally all forms of violent crime and behavior are way, way down even compared to a few decades ago. Of course mass media has to focus on what’s wrong instead of what’s improving. And there’s always room for improvement.
Mikey, I guess if you are considering this the safest time based on the statistics of crime vs population today versus any other time in history (whose percentage would be lower due to a lower population) — I can agree with that assessment. However, with the murder rate in this nation, the rise of violent crime, and the recurrence of re-offenders going back to prison we are definitely not safer in the truest sense of the word … unless we just happen to not be a victim of a crime. We agree however, there is always room for improvement – especially in what we consider important. :-)
Yes, there’s always more work to do! And correct spiritual mindfulness and dedication always help. We totally agree on that. But the decline in the rates of violent crime, including in our country, is a fact. It’s not based on differences in population numbers. Here’s a more scholarly measurement than you would get on the news:

I can get on board with that my friend. Have a blessed day!
