The cleansing of the temple, as recorded in John 2, is one of the most unique experiences we have of Jesus ever showing “anger”. But, have you ever thought of it as an expression of love, or commitment, to God’s purposes for the Church?
What we allow to occur in our church – especially those things which are ungodly such as false teaching (see Matthew 7:15, 2 Peter 2:1-2), idol worship (see Exodus 20:4-5, 1 Corinthians 10:14), etc. – tell God (and the world) that we are not serious about the things He has called us to focus on!
When we consider all that God has done for us, how could we even think of allowing the heresies of this world to be allowed in the place God has called sacred (see Ephesians 2:19-22)? May God bless you this week.
