Does it change us?

When it comes to studying the Bible, one of the most overlooked items is that we do not make it personal – but rather, view it as a “loose guideline” of how to live. Now before you say it … this is not an attack, rather, it should be seen as an indication of what is going on in our hearts (because of the corruption and deception that sin brings).

It is why Jesus is so personal (some might say argumentative) in His words to not only the Pharisees … but … to those who would call themselves followers and not listen to what He says! It is also why He can ask us boldly, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?” (Luke 6:46).

When we are confronted with the truth of God’s Word, do we allow it to penetrate into the places in our heart where sin reigns to get rid of it, or are we still trying to keep that area sacred for ourselves? At the very least, it is worth examining.

God bless you.
