Receiving difficult news can affect us in many ways. For some it may cause anger, for others grief, and even for others a deep sense of loss and mourning that is simply, unshakeable. Jesus knew the Disciples would feel all of these emotions in reaction to His news of departing — which is exactly why He promised to give them a partner, an Advocate, a living Spirit that would dwell within them!
This promise is exactly the same for those who receive Jesus as Lord today, and truly there is no greater gift that we could ever want (or need) to survive in this world of chaos and strife. Honestly, how good is our God who would care for us so deeply that He would provide comfort even before the “bad news” comes? Have you thanked Him for this blessing today?
